Papers and imports

ChessPaper saves editable papers and reading progress in this browser. They are not synced between browsers or devices.

Your browser downloads Lichess studies directly from Lichess. Importing a study or PGN sends its PGN content to our server for conversion. Exporting a PDF sends the paper to our server to generate the file. This is temporary processing; it does not create a server backup of your paper.

Accounts and games

OpeningRepair uses public games from the Lichess and Chess.com accounts you import to help you review and practice positions. Your games, analysis, and progress are saved in your browser.

Signing in with Lichess uses cookies and stores your account identity and access token on our servers. It does not back up or sync your papers.

Services and analytics

Our hosting providers, jsDelivr, and the chess platforms receive technical information such as your IP address to deliver their services. We also use technical logs to operate and secure the app.

We use GoatCounter for cookie-free visit statistics and aggregate ChessPaper and OpeningRepair feature counts. These feature counts exclude paper content, titles, games, positions, source links, and account details. We do not use advertising trackers.

Your choices

Remove individual papers from Papers. Delete OpeningRepair's local data in Settings; this keeps your papers. Clearing this site's data through your browser removes both.

Where applicable, you can access, correct, delete or export your data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority.
